The #1 biggest ongoing problem with FileMaker over the last 20 years is that it is practically impossible to cancel out of a FIND of an unstored field that is taking too long, or cancel out of a SUMMARY that is taking too long. This happens if you're using FileMaker Pro on a client machine and are remotely connected to FileMaker Server. If you click on the CANCEL or STOP button, FileMaker never responds to you actually clicking on that CANCEL or STOP button. You just have to wait. And wait. And wait. Sometimes for HOURS, until FileMaker decides that it is ready to CANCEL or STOP. This can bring an entire company to its knees in situations like this... it is just a real flaw in FileMaker. See screenshot below. I tried to cancel out of this summarization about 45 minutes ago by clicking on the STOP button, but it's still trying to cancel.Expected result
Here's the thing... if we tell FileMaker to STOP doing something, it should actually LISTEN to us and STOP! Don't make us sit around for an hour while it decides if it wants to listen to us.Screenshot
