Description of the issue

A disabled plugin can only be updated once by the Install Plug-In File script step. Every time after that (even if FileMaker is closed/opened again), FileMaker will fail to install the plugin, will return error code 1550, and leave a pluginName.new file in the Extension directory.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Disable a plugin, install that same plugin (or a newer version of it) via the Install Plug-In File script step twice.

Expected result

Updates the plugin properly.

Actual result

Returns error result, leaves the plugin in an invalid state.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

Error code 1550.

Workaround

after this error occurs: delete the plugin files manually

to prevent it from occurring: don't updated a disabled plugin
