Description of the issue

I posted this the other day, and then reported that a reboot solved the problem. It didn't. Add that to the symptoms: problem is somehow intermittent.

I have a large database, mostly text, that I've been using with FMPro 13 for quite some time. My standard procedure is to paste text into some key fields on the screen and then run a script to save that data in the proper format. Today I ran the updater to v05 and now I can't paste any text! I read online that I shouldn't update to v5 if I don't already have at least v3. Honestly I'm not sure what version I HAD. The system will not let me download v3 because I already have v5 in there.

Steps to reproduce the problem

A user suggested recovering the file to see if it was the file itself that was somehow damaged. a) I have two databases, and the problem is present today in both of them. b) I recovered one of them anyway, and the problem persists. the recovery algorithm did not detect any problems.
