Issue report by Paul Cohen

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

Filemaker Pro Advanced 13.0v5

Operating system version

10.10.2

Description of the issue

I have two user accounts on my iMac, and one of the user accounts got slightly corrupt, it is still accessible but is not working properly as confirmed by Senior apple support. It's also the account used when the original application was installed. I created a new admin user account and can open and close filemaker applications, I had also reinstalled the OS. The problem is if I try to export a PDF to my local drive using the file save send record as PDF in the new user account I get an error message "xyz.pdf" could not be created on this disk. Use a different name, make more room on the disk, unlock it or use different disk. I can export the PDF to an external drive but not the local drive.
I have no problem creating a PDF from the print menu. The problem is specific to the application. I also confirmed that the original corrupt admin user is experiencing the same symptom.

I found the following in the knowledge base regarding version of Adobe. http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12003/kw/error%20disk/related/1

I have Adobe Pro V9 installed, and I also have reader 11. The default is adobe pro 9. Do I need to change the default to the reader 11 to confirm if it is the culprit?

Steps to reproduce the problem

If I use a FMP template as a starter, then go to export a PDF from the file menu (not scripted) I get the same error. I can export the PDF to any external drive from the file menu.

Expected result

I would expect the application to save the file to my local drive since I am an admin user on the account and the computer.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

"xyz.pdf" could not be created on this disk. Use a different name, make more room on the disk, unlock it or use different disk.

Configuration information

The original problem with the first ADMIN account was that I would see a spinning beachball when I tried to open a file on the computer. The problem was not specfic to just filemaker and also occurred in safe mode.

Workaround

Saving the files to an external disk worked fine.
