Issue report by DamonCasey

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

12 and 13

Operating system version

OS X 10.9.5

Description of the issue

The 'Save A Copy As' command is performed during development on a local computer to create backups. While the copy is being saved, the computer becomes very unresponsive while typing. The characters typed can take between 1-2 seconds to appear, or sometimes entire keystrokes are dropped (e.g. typing 'the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog' could result in 'te brown fo jums the lzy dg'.)

This was not a problem in previous versions of OS X.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Open a file 200MB or greater and perform the 'Save a Copy as' command.

Switch to a different application and type while the copy is being saved.

Expected result

The computer is responsive and all keystrokes recorded, displaying the characters typed.

Actual result

Slow performance of typed characters appearing, including some characters not appearing at all.

Workaround

No workaround. It can be best to leave the computer alone until the copy is completed otherwise it's very unproductive to have to retype the words.
