I can't enter a new file in an existing database

Description of the issue

I recently had my computer upgraded from an older system to Yosemite. Now I can open file maker do a search but I can't put in a new file. I have already tried restarting, getting rid of the com.filmaker library preferences. Any suggestions. Thanks

Tried restarting multiple time

Actual result

Can't do a command N nor go to the tool bar and get new file as it is greyed out
