As shown in the image below. When you use Export Records to export to a merge file, you list of available characters sets is shorter than the list that's available for exporting to a CSV file even though the only significant difference between the two appears to be that Merge file exports include the field names in the first row of exported data.Steps to reproduce the problem
Select Export Records from the field menu, select merge files as the file type and then pull down the character set drop down in the next dialog to appear. Note the list of character set options.Repeat these steps, but select CSV as the export file type. Note the longer list of character set options that now becomes available.
Expected result
The same list of available character sets for both export file typesActual result
The list of available character sets for Merge file exports does not list as many options as the csv export.Workaround
If you want to export this data as CSV, but include the field names in row one, you have to add a "dummy record" with the field names instead of data or edit the exported text file after the fact if you also want to use one of the character sets that are only available with the csv option.Screenshot
