€ Sign in a currency formatted field does not appear in PDF generated from preview mode, it shows a square instead

Steps to reproduce the problem

create a layout with a currency field in € (EUR) and go to preview mode, then save as PDF.

Expected result

it should show a currency field with a € sign

Actual result

it shows a square sign instead.
