Issue report by David Graham

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

12

Operating system version

Mac OS Mavericks

Description of the issue

I migrated my applications from a Time Machine backup; when I open FMP, however, I get the "This application has been installed incorrectly or modified by another program. Please run the Installer to get a fresh copy of the application after determining the cause." error documented in various places. I have come across the instruction to edit the "Assisted Install.txt" file but I can't locate that file anywhere (I've tried working from an updater file, but the .dmg file it creates does not seem to contain the "Assisted Install" text file). I am rapidly running out of ideas.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Either migrate FMP 12 install from an old Mac via TM backup, or try reinstalling by using the latest updater file.

Expected result

Normal use.

Actual result

Installation proceed normally, with no prompt to enter the license key, but then opening the program fails with the error message reproduced above.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

"This application has been installed incorrectly or modified by another program. Please run the Installer to get a fresh copy of the application after determining the cause."

Configuration information

Latest version of Mac OS X Mavericks.

Workaround

Edit the "Assisted Install.txt" file, but I can't find it!
