Date returned in different format when selected from value list, after moving to FMS12

Popup menu returns MM/DD/YYYY not DD/MM/YYYY

Originally, in FMPa12 it would set a global field to DD/MM/YYYY
Then I purchased FMS12 and now access the database over the LAN via our server.
Now it sets the global field to MM/DD/YYYY
My computer and the Servers date settings are set to DD/MM/YYYY

Steps to reproduce the problem

I have set up a pop-up menu specifying field g_FilterDate.
I have changed the Value List to display both values (CMonthYear (date) and CMonthYearNAME (text)) and sort by the first.
This sets g_FilterDate to DD/MM/YYYY.
If I sort by the second the date is returned as MM/DD/YYYY

Expected result

Set the global field to DD/MM/YYYY

Actual result

global field is set to MM/DD/YYYY

Configuration information

Server Version 12.0.4.405

Workaround

change the Value List to display both values (CMonthYear (date) and CMonthYearNAME (text)) and sort by the first.
This sets g_FilterDate to DD/MM/YYYY.
Put a text label over the pop-up list to display CMonthYearNAME, so it looks better when not selected, but the list still displays the first values when choosing
