Description of the issue

I have a CRM database - Company and employes that works for the company.
When a new company is created, I give it a serial number that started with 'KA0001' and increase with '1' for each record. Happy days!
The field is set to Serial number, on creation, Prohibit modification of value… , Always validate, Not Empty and unique value.

I'm running this on a PC server and it gets accessed across a LAN as well as WAN network.

Every so often, this serial number, reverts to 'C1'… in other words last serial number 'KA09327' next one 'C1', 'C2', 'C3'…. until I pick it up and have to go back to all the records and change it back… not fun.

Please help - or do I just have to live with it?
