Unexplained deletion of records

Description of the issue

I have a file with four tables.

I was making an adjustment to a portal on one of the layouts and value list. When I exited the layout all the records to that layout table and portal had disappeared.

I then checked the other tables and 25 records out of a total of 30 had disappeared on one and another remained complete. There is no apparent pattern associated with the five records that remain. Deleting records on the layout and portal which I was adjusting should have no affect on the records of this table.

There is no logic to the occurrence of the deletion and file recovery has informed me not to continue to use the file.
